Fashion Industry Training Centre
A state-of-the-art Fashion Industry Training Centre is being built in Richmond and it is to be unveiled at the end of 2007.
Currently the majority of Fashion studies are located at the Broadmeadows Campus, with a smaller group at the Richmond Campus. The $4.6 million project is set to breathe new life into the department.
The new location will create increased access for students, the community and industry. The new Richmond Fashion Centre will have resources and services that will engage and involve industry as much as possible, while also giving students the best facilities and experience possible.
With more space and a brand new design, the Richmond Fashion Centre will have a catwalk, ideal for showcasing students' work, a number of training and theory classrooms and an impressive retail training centre, as well as shop front windows and displays.
The centre will offer state-of-the-art garment construction rooms which simulate industry workrooms, and manual pattern-making facilities. It will also feature areas devoted to millinery, textile testing, and CAD CAM design, including the latest in design, pattern-making, grading and cutting technology.
