What is a Short Course?
Short courses are a cost and time effective way to help you gain new skills or try new things. Kangan Batman TAFE offers over 200 short courses at our seven campuses. Completing a short course such as the Food Handlers Certificate or the First Aid Level II may even help you with your future job prospects.
How long do short courses run for?
Short courses may run for a couple of hours or six months depending on the type of program being offered.
How often does a new short course start?
This can vary depending on the type of course and the demand. On average short courses are run approximately eight times per year.
Can I do a short course by flexible delivery?
All our short courses are currently delivered on campus.
Can I get a brochure explaining details of a short course?
Kangan Batman TAFE has available a Short Course catalogue with basic information on all courses. In addition, detailed brochures are available for each short course from the Customer Service Centre. You can also browse our short courses on this website.
Are there any concessions for short course fees?
There are no concessions available for short courses.
Are there other costs for materials or books?
In most cases, books and materials are included in the cost of a short course, although there may be some additional costs associated with a few courses. Please refer to the Short Course Catalogue or individual brochures for details.
What education level do I need to do a short course?
There is no educational level required to do short courses.
When I finish, what documentation or credit do I get?
When you successfully complete a Kangan Batman TAFE accredited short course program, you will receive a Certificate of Participation. Where a nationally accredited course is delivered as a short course, you will receive certification of the qualification. In the case of nationally accredited module being delivered fee-for-service, a Statement of Attainment is issued. In all cases you must successfully complete the program to be eligible.
Can I go on from a short course to a higher level course?
There is no formal credit transfer process associated with short course programs, however in some cases, successful completion of a course may assist you to gain Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credits.
How do I apply?
There is no application process for short courses. You must enrol with payment by the closing date in order to secure a place because places are limited.
