Course Fees

How much will the course cost?

What will it cost to enrol?

You are required to pay a tuition contribution, a student services and amenities fee and an ancillary fee. Material fees may also be required for some courses. Your enrolment is not valid until all of these fees have been paid. See the Fees and Charges Brochure here

Tuition Contribution

The tuition contribution is charged at the rate of $1.37 for each nominal enrolled hour.

Student Services and Amenities Fee (SS&A)

All students are required to pay a compulsory fee that contributes to the cost of providing such services as counselling, special needs support, study support and activities and services provided by the student association (KITSA).

The fee is calculated at the rate of 27 cents for each nominal enrolled hour.

Ancillary Fee

A fee of $21 per student supports and improve student IT service including enhanced email, home drive backup systems, access to the Flexible Learning Centre and online library, and Learning Centre ITC equipment.

Minimum Fees and Fees Applicable to Concession Students

Students who have one of the following at enrolment time are eligible for the minimum fee:

If you and your dependant children are listed on a Health Care Card, or if you have a dependant spouse listed on the Health Care Card, you may also be eligible for the minimum fee.

The minimum fee is also applicable to Indigenous students and students enrolling in 40 hours or less of study.

Please note: If you subsequently amend your enrolment or your concession status changes, the minimum fee may no longer apply.

Students enrolled in non-government (fee for service) courses are not eligible for fee concessions or exemptions.

Additional fees may also be charged for materials, excursions and first aid training.

How can I pay my fees?

You can pay your fees by credit card over the phone or with cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS at any Customer Service Centre.

What about Skills Recognition (Recognition of Prior Learning) Fees?

Skills Recognition or Recognition of Prior Learning means that skills, experience and knowledge you already have can be assessed for credit against a qualification. This can occur either before or after your enrolment.

The cost of undertaking Skills Recognition is $55. If you are currently enrolled with Kangan Batman TAFE in a government funded program, this fee may be waived (if you have already paid the maximum fee or if you are already enrolled in the units in which you are seeking recognition).

Please note that Recognition of Prior Learning applies to whole units of competencies and modules - not parts thereof.

Can I get financial assistance?

Students experiencing difficulties with paying course fees and/or with purchasing course books or materials may wish to utilise the following options:

Welfare Services

Assistance can be provided to students to help with budgeting, money management, financial counselling and referrals to external support agencies.

Student Loans

Interest free loans may be available to students who cannot pay fees up front and who meet eligibility criteria. Student loans are not available to pay the minimum fee. Information and loan application forms are available from the Student Welfare Officer, Student Counsellors or Customer Service Centres

Fee Concessions/Exemptions

Fee concessions/exemptions may be granted to students experiencing severe financial hardship. You should talk to the Student Welfare Officer or a Student Counsellor before enrolment.

Please note that concession rates do NOT apply where the fees are being paid for by a Commonwealth Government Agency or as part of a Commonwealth Program or initiative.

Can I get help if I'm having trouble with the course?

If you are having trouble with your course, contact your class teacher or course coordinator in the first instance. If you are still having difficulty, our educational/personal counsellors or disability liaison officers may be of assistance. Phone (03) 9279 2511 for an appointment to discuss your concerns. The services are free and confidential.
