Collaborations
Aviation Australia
In a landmark event, leading Australian aircraft maintenance training organisations, Aviation Australia (Brisbane) and Kangan Batman TAFE teamed to provide high standard training courseware in their programs for people who are training to become aircraft maintenance engineers. Through this partnership, high quality aircraft apprentice and licensing training will be aligned for delivery across state boundaries, potentially reaching some 65 per cent of apprentices in the aircraft maintenance engineering trade streams.
This training support consists of state-of-the-art presentations, a suite of instructional support materials and an examination data base.
The latest training philosophies are also embedded in the learning systems to cater for the current generation and future workforce.
The outcomes are also aligned to new national and international licensing standards, including the requirements of the new CAO 100.66.
Aerospace Industry Research & Education (AIREd)
In 2002, Kangan Batman TAFE and RMIT University formed AIREd (Aerospace Industry Research and Education), a one-stop-shop for aerospace training both nationally and internationally.
This partnership aimed to form a very strong and competitive institution for the delivery of world-class products and services in the field of aviation, engineering and electronics.
- To optimise the utilisation of both RMIT University and Kangan Batman TAFE resources (manpower, facilities, training programs and strategies) to meet the challenges and/or shortages that may arise in the aerospace industry at both national and international level.
- To significantly improve consistency, uniformity and quality of program delivery, which in turn leads to a much better standardisation of skills and competencies gained by graduates.
- To attract international capital through the provision of aerospace products and services.
- In principle, to support the recommendations outlined by the Aerospace Industry Action Agenda Forum in Australia.
- To establish Victoria as a pivotal point in delivering 'second to none' education and training programs in the field of aviation, engineering and electronics. Both organisations are absolutely committed to consolidating their industry network, which will become an integrated component of this alliance.
- To significantly enhance flexibility in education and training through designing a wide range of programs (post secondary, pre-vocational, para-professional, undergraduate and post graduate studies) and to integrate these programs to provide training pathways for a flexible career and employment progression.
- To better position RMIT University and Kangan Batman TAFE against any threat arising from the dynamic and fluctuating nature of the aerospace industry
