Auslan Resources

The Auslan & Deaf Studies Centre in conjunction with Educational Development Services Video Production Unit has developed a number of resources designed to supplement and support Auslan students. You can order any of these resources using this order form.

'Auslan 1 Vocabulary & Sentences' Practice DVD

$49.50 incl. GST

The 'Auslan 1 Vocabulary & Sentences' Practice DVD was designed specifically for those studying the Auslan 1 module from Certificate II in Auslan on a Part-time basis. It was found that between regular classes, many students complained they were forgetting information because they had no exposure to Auslan during the week.

This DVD, a direct copy of the original video, includes much of the vocabulary normally learned in Auslan 1 classes and also presents phrases and sentences in Auslan grammar. This enables students to maintain their Auslan skills between classes and challenges them to further develop their proficiency through constant practice.

Auslan students who are studying courses other than the Certificate II in Auslan will also find this resource to be of great benefit.

Also available in VHS video format.

'Auslan 1' CD-ROM

$49.50 incl. GST

The 'Auslan 1' CD-ROM provides a wonderful resource for all students of Auslan, but especially those studying the Auslan 1 module from Certificate II In Auslan.

Offering more than 200 signs typically learnt in Auslan 1 classes, this interactive CD-ROM will jog your memory by allowing you to quickly and easily access signs from your home computer.

The signs are presented in a compressed video format, so they are actual video clips which load very quickly. Auslan & Deaf Studies Centre's Christopher Dunn, one of Australia's most recognised Auslan teachers, presents the visual concepts. You can access signs from a simple alphabetical menu, or you may prefer to select your sign from one of the major context menus. For example, if you were looking for the Auslan sign for 'blue', you would find it under 'B' or in the 'Colours' menu.

'Auslan 2' Practice DVD

$49.50 incl. GST

Similar to the Auslan 1 DVD, the 'Auslan 2' Practice DVD was designed specifically for those studying the Auslan 2 module from Certificate II in Auslan on a Part-time basis.

The video continues in the same tradition, providing a quality resource that reinforces the Auslan vocabulary acquired during classes and consolidates Auslan grammar and structure. Joining Christopher Dunn is a variety of qualified Auslan teachers who guide your journey through this fascinating visual language. Similar to the Auslan 1 DVD, this resource is a direct copy of the original VHS format and is of great value to students of alternative Auslan courses.

Also available in VHS video format.

'Auslan 2' CD-ROM

$49.50 incl. GST

The 'Auslan 2' CD-ROM continues to build on learning experiences offered by the Auslan 1 CD-ROM. Not only does it provide an interactive video dictionary, which offers Auslan concepts at the click of your mouse, but also multiple versions of signs, dialectic variations, practice and testing in fingerspelling, sentences and monologues.

Although developed to support students of the Auslan 2 module of Certificate II in Auslan, this wonderful resource is equally beneficial to any students of Auslan. It will jog your memory by allowing you to quickly and easily access signs, sentences, monologues and fingerspelling within an Auslan context from the convenience of your home or office computer.

'Auslan 3' CD-ROM

$49.50 incl. GST

The 'Auslan 3' CD-ROM is a fresh, innovative approach to providing supplementary Auslan language development outside of a structured classroom environment. Join our young couple, James and Fiona, as they embark on the exciting experience of buying their first home together. Develop your read-back skills as they meet with their real estate agent and describe their dream home. Consolidate your use of numbers as they visit their bank manager to discuss the various loan products available to them.

You will be able to observe various skills used in Auslan including, providing clear directions, classifying objects and places, giving instructions, storytelling and using Auslan in a social environment. Afterwards, assess your comprehension skills with a series of multiple choice and true or false tests. See if you were able to follow Fiona's directions by comparing your map to hers, or her description of the house by playing the drag and drop activity.

As with our other resources which support students of the Certificate II in Auslan, this resource is equally beneficial to students of other Auslan programs.

You can order any of the above resources by filling out our order form.
