Product Design Manufacturing Challenge 2008

In 2007 Kangan Batman TAFE launched a pilot program called the Product Design Manufacturing Challenge; due to the success of last year's program and with funding support from Kangan Batman Tafe and DIIRD we are proud to announce the continuation of the pilot with the PDM Challenge for 08.

The project is an initiative that aims to raise the profile of careers in design, manufacturing and engineering. It offers students hands on experience in Industry standard projects and exposes students to sound career paths and further study options.

Industry Partners Invetech, ARRK, Autoliv, Sutton Tools, Hawker de Havilland and APS Plastics have joined with students from, Kangan Batman TAFE, Whittlesea Secondary College, Penola Catholic College, Roxburgh Park Secondary College, St Bernard's College and Sunbury Downs College. Under the supervision of a team of Industrial Design Consultants students have been assigned the task of working from an Industry design brief to bring new ideas to life.

Students recently visited their industry partners to understand their business and to discuss their design briefs.

The project will end with an Exhibition of all designs with an award for the design that has the potential to be manufactured presented at an end of year Expo.
