The BEC offers the following services:

- business counselling
- networking opportunities
- short courses
- nationally accredited training
Business counselling
The BEC offers a business counselling service, which is available by appointment at our Essendon and Richmond campuses. Alternatively, a counsellor can visit your business for an on-site consultation.
Our counsellors can provide support on:
- planning
- marketing
- financial matters
- and referral to a range of government services available to assist small businesses.
The BEC business counselling service is sponsored by the City of Moonee Valley, City of Hume and various Commonwealth Government funding projects.
Networking
The BEC Small Business Network conducts networking nights at least twice each year. These evenings provide an opportunity for small business people and those interested in self-employment, to network.
The networking nights often feature guest speakers on marketing, taxation, quality or topical issues. They also provide a commercial opportunity for businesses to promote or demonstrate their product/service to the local community.
Business EXPO/Networking nights are held at Moonee Valley Racecourse in June and November each year. Smaller networking evenings are held at Richmond BEC throughout the year.

Nationally-accredited training
Accounting and Financial Services
Small Business
This course is initially conducted over two nights a week, and later through flexible delivery (independent study from home or in one of our Flexible Learning Centres).
The main focus is on the creation of a business plan. Units include:
- Marketing
- Planning
- law and taxation
- pricing
- costing and break even
- computer training for small business
The course is facilitated by a range of trainers with expertise in taxation, marketing, budgeting, and law.
