ELICOS Program

Vikki Zhang, China

Before starting my Diploma in Automotive Technology I studied English for five weeks at Kangan Institute.

I was very nervous when I arrived in Australia and everything was new. By studying English I made new friends (I still have these friends now!), learnt about Melbourne and also improved my English. I developed a better understanding of the Institute and what it is like in Australia before I had to concentrate on my main course.

I remember the teachers were very good and supported me in getting settled. I became more relaxed about being away from home and was better prepared for starting automotive.

I would recommend that international students study English first – it is a good about being away from home – and it gives you the training to get used to English in the local environment, understanding accents and the Australian way of communicating.
