Honda Australia has provided a Honda Insight to Kangan Batman TAFE for use in automotive training courses.

This will give students and staff in the Automotive Department the chance to learn about one of the world’s most technologically advanced vehicles.

The Insight was presented to institute Director John Parish by Honda Australia Managing Director and CEO Hiroshi Toda at Honda’s head office in Tullamarine.

The Honda Insight will also be used in the institute’s pool along with another Insight that Kangan Batman TAFE has been using since May 2002. Kangan Batman TAFE use vehicles to travel across Victoria to conduct workplace assessments and visit apprentices in the workplace.

“We at Honda are proud to continue our association with Kangan Batman TAFE,” said Honda Australia Director Lindsay Smalley.

“The Insight gives tomorrow’s technicians the chance to learn on the latest technology found in this special car.”

“It is great to give future technicians a chance to learn from our products.”

The Insight was the first hybrid petrol-electric vehicle to be sold in Australia following its official unveiling at the Melbourne Motor Show in March 2001.

Honda and a team of engineers and students from Kangan Batman TAFE also teamed up in 2001 to build the HR-Sea, a Honda HR-V converted to an aquarium holding Barramundi and north Australian Saratoga fish. The HR-Sea – dubbed A Fish called Honda – was displayed at the 2001 Melbourne Motor Show before moving to its permanent home at the Melbourne Aquarium.
