New appointment to VETASSESS

Karen Berkley, Executive Director of VETASSESS.
Ms Karen Berkley has been appointed Executive Director of VETASSESS, Australia’s leading vocational education and training (VET) assessment provider.
Established in 1997 at Kangan Batman TAFE, VETASSESS has built a reputation for providing superior assessment solutions and systems to clients locally, nationally and across the world.
Ms Berkley, who had been Acting Executive Director of VETASSESS since August 2003 brings a wealth of experience to the position including teaching and management positions.
Karen joined the founding VETASSESS team in 1997 as Manager Special Projects, where she worked on the establishment of VET teacher standards and became increasingly involved in online assessment and learning issues.
In 2000 she took on the position of Manager Online Services, responsible for designing and setting up assessit.net, the VETASSESS online assessment service. In this role she also developed and managed online and e-business solutions for other operations within VETASSESS including publishing and qualification assessment services.
Prior to joining VETASSESS, Karen spent 12 years in teaching, management and professional development within the Victorian VET sector, working extensively with both public and private sector organisations on a range of teaching, learning and assessment projects.
She holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences, Graduate Diploma in Humanities, Diploma of Education and is currently undertaking a Masters in Computer Science (Internet Technologies).
Located in East Melbourne, VETASSESS delivers a range of services including a comprehensive consultancy service, tests and examinations, online assessment services, competency assessment, qualification assessment services and professional development seminars.
VETASSESS assists in educational research, evaluation and development projects for clients, provides consultancy services to government and industry on issues relating to assessment, education and training.
VETASSESS has a long list of clients using their range of services including the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA), Australian Vice-Chancellors Committee (AVCC), International Labour Organisation (ILO), Office of Training and Tertiary Education (OTTE), National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition, Institute of Banking and Finance, Victoria Police, Education Queensland and the Metropolitan Ambulance Service.
