New business course for Koori students

The Kangan Batman TAFE Koori Programs Unit is introducing a new business course at the Gunung-Willam-Balluk Learning Centre at the Broadmeadows campus.
The Certificate II in Business begins this semester and runs for approximately four months full-time over four days a week.
This course aims to provide students with competencies in administration, clerical, information technology and financial skills. Students gain experience in basic management and information processing skills within a professional environment.
The Certificate II in Business develops a variety of skills used within a work environment to give students a head-start in obtaining an entry-level position. These skills may lead to jobs as receptionists, clerks, junior secretaries, administrative clerks and word processor operators.
Subjects include:
- using business technology
- developing keyboard skills
- produce simple word-processed documents
- create and use simple spreadsheets
- handle mail
- organise schedules
- communicate in the workplace
- provide information to clients
- deliver and monitor a service to customers
- work effectively in a business environment
- organise and complete daily work activities
- participate in workplace safety procedures
- prepare and process financial business documents.
The course is run at the Gunung-Willam-Balluk Learning Centre where participants are welcomed in a comfortable and positive learning environment in which the Indigenous culture is respected and celebrated.
