Admin Students Recognised for their Achievements
12 December 2005
In an event themed, 'Believe and Achieve,' Kangan Batman TAFE Certificate II in Business and Certificate III in Business Administration students celebrated their achievements for 2005.
Held on Tuesday 6 December at the Institute's Broadmeadows Campus, and catering to 100 people, the event was no ordinary end-of-year celebration.
It was organised almost entirely by seven Diploma in Business Administration students.
Under the guidance of teacher Warren Mendoza, the seven Diploma students, Jenny Gombos, Annette Hill, Bernadette Shannon, Marilyn Magno, Lamya Koro, Linda Audisho and Ayla Guler, put their training to the test in organising this event.
Administrative Studies Manager, Terry McNamara, said each of these Diploma students came from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including Filipino, Assyrian and Turkish.
'This team was highly effective in putting together this great event,' said Mr McNamara. 'This was because they were able to form a strong bond during the organising and planning stages.'
Local businesses generously donated prizes and food, and special guest, Mohamad Alman, a Team Leader with Glenroy's AMES Employment Agency, gave valuable advice on how to make an impact on a future employer and where to find employment once studies had been completed.
Kangan Batman TAFE's Director/CEO, Ray Griffiths, also gave an inspiring speech about the importance of believing in one's self and setting and achieving goals when undertaking any form of education.
Seven students from both Certificate II and III won 'Outstanding Student' awards. Two awards were also presented to the fastest typists, including Certificate III student Judy Preston who achieved the highest speed of 68 words per minute.
The Certificate II in Business, Certificates III and IV in Business Administration, and the Diploma in Business Administration courses are conducted twice a year at Kangan Batman TAFE's Broadmeadows Campus.
