National Reconciliation Week Luncheon.

7 May 2007

National Reconciliation Week will be celebrated this year with Kangan Batman TAFE's third annual Ningulabul Reconciliation Luncheon on Friday 1 June 2007.

The event will be held at the Gunung-Willam-Balluk Learning Centre at the Broadmeadows campus of Kangan Batman TAFE and Col Dillon will be the guest speaker.

Col Dillon was most likely Australia's first Indigenous Police officer and he stood tall and strong and gave valuable evidence to the Fitzgerald enquiry into graft and corruption in the Queensland police force that lead to the sacking of the police minister and a shake-up of the force. Col went on to be the highest ranked Indigenous Australian Police officer. He served as a commissioner for ATSIC and an advisor to the Queensland State Government on Indigenous Affairs.

This year is the eleventh anniversary of National Reconciliation Week and this year's theme is 'Their spirit still shines'. The event aims to provide guests the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of reconciliation by sharing lunch and listening to stories of inspiration.

This event will be co-hosted by the City of Hume.

Kangan Batman TAFE is committed to developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Indigenous community.

Media are welcome to attend.
