Stylish Photo Wins Award for Fashion Student
16 May 2007
Twenty-one year old Maxine Tuyau has set herself up for bright future in fashion after winning the Skyy Vodka 'Your most stylish fashion moment' competition on 24 April 2007.
Maxine's winning submission was photo of her wearing a Kasia Gorniak (a former Kangan Batman TAFE graduate) dress in an alley, with the caption 'Nothing says style like a Melbourne alleyway.'
Maxine, who studies the Certificate IV in Clothing Production at Kangan Batman TAFE's Broadmeadows campus, says 'I entered the competition for fun, and I wasn't taking it seriously, but I'm so glad I did.'
Maxine's prize included ticket to a VIP night at the Rosemount Fashion Week held in Sydney, accommodation in a 5 star hotel, a reserved money-can't-buy seat at one of the RAFW catwalk shows, entry to the exclusive NIGHTSKYY cocktail party at the Museum of Contemporary Art and a $2000 designer wardrobe.
'I was a bit nervous when they called out my name, and at first, I refused to go on stage,' said Maxine. 'But I absolutely loved the experience. I met Australian designers like Arabella Ramsey and Lisa Gorman at the cocktail party. That was brilliant.'
Maxine plans to study a Diploma of Fashion at Kangan Batman TAFE's Fashion Industry Training Centre, so she can fulfil her dream of becoming a stylist.
