The much anticipated 2007 Winberri Music Festival is set to rock at Kangan Batman TAFE Broadmeadows Campus.

The Winberri Music Festival, named in honor of Gunung-Willam-Balluk elder will be held on Saturday 4 August. It is being organised by Kangan Batman TAFE's Hospitality, Travel and Tourism and Koori Program Unit students and promises to be an exciting event.

Kangan Batman TAFE is proud to announce that the guest performer this year is upcoming contemporary jazz musician Liz Cavanagh.

Over the past four years, Liz has amazed Melbourne audiences with her refreshing jazz performances and unique interpretations of Australian pop music. Liz has become famous for her innovative style, which many believe captures the essence of Australian jazz. Her performances also celebrate the evolution of jazz, and demonstrate how different cultural influences inspired its growth in Australia.

Being a proud Wonnarua, Tjapukai and Torres Strait Islander woman Liz is committed to the empowerment and equality of the Aboriginal community. Her performance history includes being a back-up vocalist for PAULMAC and singing at the world famous Spiegel Tent.

Coordinator of Event and Management Karen Burgmann is excited to have Liz perform at this year's festival.

'Liz has proven to be such a rare talent. We're thrilled to have her,' she said.

Karen is also confident that the 2007 Winberri Music Festival will be a success.

'The Winberri Music Festival is such an exciting opportunity to showcase our students' skills and everyone always has a great time,' she said. 'We always look forward to hosting the event.'

A delicious three course bush tucker meal prepared by Kangan Batman TAFE's Hospitality students will be served.

The evening will start at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $30 per head and must be pre-booked or pre-paid.

This event is supported by Wheelers Promotions and the City of Hume.
