Kangan Batman TAFE's Motorsport team are officially the Victorian Formula Ford State Champions.
Competing in the Formula Ford car that is built and maintained by the Institute's Motorsport students, the Kangan Batman TAFE team blitzed their opponents and took out the race at Philip Island on September 1 and 2.
The Kangan Batman TAFE team, lead by driver Jake Chapman qualified in poll position and never looked in doubt of a podium finish. Despite this being the first time the team had competed at this series there were no glitches or signs of nerves.
'The car ran beautifully and the whole team did Kangan Batman TAFE proud. We have been working on this since February this year and this is an outstanding result for us, 'Greg Moulden Kangan Batman TAFE Motorsport teacher said.
Kangan Batman TAFE finished ahead of 27 other teams to take the title of Victorian State Racing Series Champions. Their next challenge will be at the Winton Raceway on November 10 and 11 2007.
Students who study Motorsport at Kangan Batman TAFE play a hands on role in the racing, repairing and running of the car in competition and this prepares them for the realities of the Motorsport industry.
