Tourism and travel expo showcases hottest destinations
26 September 2007
Kangan Batman TAFE is hosting a European Travel Expo at the Hume Global Learning Centre on Wednesday October 24, from 10.00am.
First year Certificate IV in Tourism students have organised the event with support from local tourism operators.
The expo will showcase a number of European destinations including the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Greece, Germany and Ireland. Visitors to the expo will be able to find out information about travel, the best time to visit each country, the culture, transport options, and the latest tours and holiday packages available.
A highlight of the day will be the drawing of the major raffle. A number of local tourism operators have donated prizes. The proceeds from the raffle will assist in funding an eco study tour of the Grampians for the students, to further their understanding of eco-tourism.
Manager of Hospitality and Tourism Christine Pontin said the travel expo has been a great opportunity for her students to get some real world experience.
'This is just one example of the students displaying their tourism knowledge in a practical manner. Organising this expo has given the students hands-on experience in event management, organising displays, and researching information on destinations,' Ms Pontin said.
Visitors to the expo will also be able to obtain course information about studying Tourism at Kangan Batman TAFE.
