Best Manufacturing Teacher in Australia
8 November 2007
Nick Viney, Kangan Batman TAFE manufacturing teacher, has been named the best advanced manufacturing teacher in Australia by the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence.
These national awards aim to acknowledge and reward excellence in trade skills teaching. Winners of the award receive $10,000.
Nick's track record for excellence and his founding role in creating Kangan Batman TAFE Competitive Manufacturing Centre in 2005 have earned Nick a strong reputation within the Institute and with Industry. Nick has saved a number of big businesses including Tuff Torneau and IVECO tens of thousands of dollars with his expertise in lean manufacturing.
With his prize money Nick plans on funding an international benchmarking mission to investigate and introduce the best lean manufacturing methods for his students and industry partners.
'I feel honoured to win this award and it gives me even more encouragement to strive to deliver the best possible outcomes in manufacturing, whether it be teaching our students the best methods or helping our industry partners become more efficient,' Nick said.
