Hospitality and Tourism Teacher recognised as one of the best

16 November 2007

Kangan Batman TAFE senior hospitality, travel and tourism educator Pauline Pocaro will be recognised as one of the best in her industry when she is officially welcomed into the International Specialised Skills Institute (ISSI).

Pauline will be recognised as a 'Veneto Fellow' for 2007. Although she has become a member of ISSI in 2007, the fellowship lasts a lifetime.

The official ceremony will be hosted by Sir James Gobbo AC, CVO, who is the official patron of the Institute on Wednesday 21 November, 2007 at 9.30 am at the RACV club in Bourke Street, Melbourne.

The fellowship includes a trip to Italy next year to study the Italian agri-tourism model.

'As a teacher of business planning skills, my eventual aim is to design an on-line business planning course for farmers who wish to break into tourism using the concept of agri-tourism. Italy is the world leader in agri-tourism and although our history, land mass, and tourism sector differs substantially, I believe there are many lessons to be learned from their model,' Pauline said

Pauline is very excited by the announcement and is looking forward to the opportunities this will afford her.

'I am very honoured to be apart of this exclusive organisation. My years working in industry and as a teacher at Kangan Batman TAFE have given me a range of fantastic experiences and this would have to be one of the best,' Pauline said.
