Get Walking for Friends of Aileu
20 October 2008
Participants in last year's inaugural walkathon helped to raise almost $2000 for Friends of Aileu
Grab your friends, dust off your sneakers and join Kangan Batman TAFE staff members, students and supporters as they walk for a cause at the Friends of Aileu Walkathon on Sunday October 26.
Not only will you be getting fit, lapping up the spring sunshine and enjoying a tasty sausage sizzle, you'll also be helping to raise vital funds for the Friends of Aileu charity organisation.
Following on from the success of last year's inaugural event, the 2008 walkathon will take in five kilometres of walking track at the Westmeadows Reserve, Westmeadows.
Proceedings will kick off with registration at 10am, where you can register as an individual for $5, a family (two adults, two children) for $10, or a team of five or more for just $20.
Participants are encouraged to raise as much money for the Friends of Aileu as possible by obtaining additional sponsorship for their walk. Tax deductible receipts are available for donations of $2 and over.
Along with a gold coin donation sausage sizzle, there are also plenty of great prizes to be won in a raffle to be conducted on the day.
The Friends of Aileu is a friendship agreement between the District of Aileu in Timor-Leste, the Moreland and Hume City Councils and Kangan Batman TAFE. Aileu is a region 50km south of Dili.
Kangan Batman TAFE supports Friends of Aileu projects by donating scholarships to Aileu, raising money by selling East Timor coffee and holding fundraising events.
Taking part in this year's walkathon is easy. Just download the registration and sponsorship forms, and get fundraising!
Walkathon participants need to bring their completed sponsorship form and funds raised on the day of the event.
