You can make a huge difference in a child's life simply by attending this year's World Vision fundraiser at Kangan Batman TAFE's Richard's Restaurant.
Held over three days to raise funds for a World Vision-sponsored child, the lunch-time events will feature dishes cooked and served by Kangan Batman TAFE cookery and hospitality students.
Hospitality teacher Tracey Zammit says all proceeds raised throughout the course of the event will fund the on-going sponsorship of five-year-old Surendra Ramcharan.
"For several years now, Kangan Batman TAFE's hospitality, tourism and travel department has sponsored Surendra, raising funds through events hosted through Richard's Restaurant," she says.
"This year's event on November 11, 12 and 13 will feature a keynote presentation by Rob Waddell from World Vision, addressing how important these types of fundraising efforts are. Rob will deliver his presentation on the 13th."
Featuring a spring racing carnival theme, patrons can look forward to a menu filled with fresh, seasonal produce prepared by Kangan Batman TAFE's talented cookery students.
With festival fare including calamari amande, Amyaki beef salad, braised duck leg with red wine and mushrooms, and a delectable chocolate hazelnut and pear tart, bookings for the three-course meal are recommended.
"To help raise even more funds, we're also holding a chocolate drive at the Broadmeadows campus," Tracey says.
"We hope that everyone can come and join us throughout the three-day event, enjoy some great dishes, but, more importantly, help us raise the funds to establish vital development work like digging wells, improving sanitation and building health clinics for Surendra and his family."
