More than 250 students, guests, staff and industry representatives attended Kangan Batman TAFE's Technical Group awards evening on Friday June 19.

Held at the Bell City reception venue in Preston, the annual ceremony acknowledged award-winning students across a range of departments.

Kangan Batman TAFE CEO Ray Griffiths said the event was a resounding success.

"These awards evenings are a great way to pay tribute to our students - many of whom have moved into rewarding careers in highly competitive environments," he said.

Manufacturing student Anand Hegde took out a number of awards Manufacturing student Anand Hegde took out a number of awards, including the Trainee of the Year presented by City of Hume Mayor Jack Ogilvie.

"It's also an opportunity for the Institute to pay tribute to our industry partners for their support throughout the year."

Award winners represented a range of departments within the Technical Group, including the aviation, automotive, manufacturing and construction sectors, with industry partners supporting individual awards.

"We had a few stand-out award winners for the evening, including motorcycle apprentice Darren Condy and manufacturing trainee Anand Hegde," Ray said.

"These two students not only took out their respective department awards, but also topped the field in the Technical Group awards and Institute-wide awards.

"Both Darren and Anand received some great prizes from our sponsors, including an impressive tool set valued at $4,000 provided by Lardner Park Events and some generous monetary prizes from our supporters Moonee Valley City Council, Hume City Council, RKW Petroserve and the Ulysses Motorcycle Club."

Other winners on the night included Colin Reilly for the Best Student in Aviation and Engineering supported by Henkel Loctite, Gerrard Dillon for the AR Jackson Award supported by the Rotary Club of Coburg, and Daniel Kostakakis for the Sir Henry Royce Foundation Award for Excellence in Automotive.
