Formed in 1986, the Moonee Valley Foundation program is now accepting applications for its 2010 scholarship grants. The grants, sponsored by Kangan Institute, provide funds of up to $10,000 and are designed to help ambitious young adults to pursue their creative, civic, vocational or sporting dream.
Naturally, you'll need to be part of the Moonee Valley community, and all applicants are required to be between 18 and 28 years of age. Students, apprentices and trainees are all warmly invited to share their dream and apply for this terrific opportunity.
Claire Bunworth, winner of the scholarship in 2005, used her grant to undertake a 10 week volunteer expedition in Papua New Guinea.
"I had a dream to make a difference to the impoverished and malnourished Koiari people in a remote village," Claire said, "I learned many things about myself, and also that materialistic values may not be as important as we've been led to believe."
Other recipients of the grant have pursued their own radically different and inspiring aspirations. Previous past winners have used their grants to achieve goals such as opening up a contemporary dance company, studying molecular biology at Yale, being mentored by world-class musicians in London; and gaining on-site psychiatric study throughout privileged locations in the UK and USA.
There are two separate grants available that award applicants with up to $10,000, The Principle Grant and the Apprentice Trainee Grant, both of which require applicants to demonstrate excellence, dedication and commitment in their application. A third grant awards $250 to a nominated VCE student at each participating college in the City of Moonee Valley.
If you genuinely believe you can make a difference, and you want a real chance to turn your dreams into reality, there are 10,000 great reasons to apply for a Moonee Valley Grant. Applications must be received by 31 May 2010.
