Master in the making

Former Kangan Institute student Kristie Tyson is making her mark on the tourism industry. When she completed her Diploma of Tourism Management, she went on to study her Bachelor of Business in tourism and was recently accepted into a Masters course at La Trobe University. Kristie is looking forward to a successful career - one which started in the hallowed halls of our Broadmeadows campus!

Here, she tells us a bit about her journey:

"After being at home with my son for two years I decided I wanted to go and study travel which was an interest that I had. Straight away I knew that TAFE was for me.

"I enrolled into the advanced diploma of tourism management at Kangan Institute, Broadmeadows campus and have never looked back. TAFE for me was a great experience, the teachers had industry experience and knowledge, the help and support given was endless. The encouragement to continue on with further studies was undoubtedly evident.

"I am currently undertaking a Masters in tourism at La Trobe University, having successfully completed a Bachelor of Business in tourism management and being offered a position in the masters program.

"TAFE gave me the groundings to continue studying at university level, something I know I would not have done otherwise."
