Course overview

This course aims to give basic training in the safe operation of forklifts and reach trucks.
Undertaking this course will provide applicants with full theory, practical training and the 40 hours of practical experience required to satisfy the Work Safe legislation required before undertaking the assessment. If the applicant has prior forklift driving experience, they will not be required to undertake the 40 hours of practical experience and can exit the course at various points, depending upon their personal experience.

Learning outcomes

This course aims to give basic training in the safe operation of forklifts and reach trucks. This course provides full theory and practical training. According to Government legislation, all applicants must accrue 40 hours of practical experience before undertaking the assessment. There are various exit points for participants with prior forklift driving experience.

Pre-requisite & eligibility requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or over to undertake this course. We strongly advise that all applicants have approximately two years full driving experience in a car prior to enrolment. Participants must have their own safety boots and safety vest.

Participant requirements

Applicants are required to provide primary photo ID on test day. Students are required to pay an extra licence fee of $60 payable directly to WorkSafe Victoria upon successful conclusion of the assessment, via an Australia Post outlet.

Please note: All assessments will be conducted exclusively in the English language without the aid of an interpreter, without any instruction, assessment question or assessment document being translated into any other language and without any applicant's response or answer being translated from any other language.

What you receive at the completion of the course?

Institute Accredited Qualification and the necessary paperwork required to submit to WorkSafe Victoria in order to get the licence card issued
