Course overview

This course is for the Motorcycle, Moped or ATV enthusiast who wants to get a better understanding of the operation of a motorcycle and how to perform safe basic servicing and maintenance procedures.

Learning outcomes

Participants will gain a better understanding of the mechanical operation of their motorcycle, moped or ATV including the basic fundamentals and operation of a two and four stroke engine and their associated components, how to safely select and use specialist hand tools and equipment and how to do a basic service, repair or maintenance on a motorcycle, moped or ATV.

Duration

This course is delivered over eight evenings (two hours per evening).

Pre-requisite & eligibility requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course however participants will need to be comfortable using power tools and equipment and have a general interest in motorcycles, mopeds and ATVs.

Participant requirements

Participants in this course are required to provide and wear safety clothing and footwear (such as long sleeve shirt and pants, preferably overalls) and full cover closed shoe (preferably work boots or shoes).

Personal protective equipment such as eye and hearing protection will be supplied; however participants may bring their own.

Additional information

When the skills of course participants are at a suitable level deemed by the teacher as appropriate, participants may be allowed to bring motorcycles to class as a project.
The Docklands campus is centrally located with easy access to public transport and within walking distance to Southern Cross station. There is no parking available at the campus however public parking is available within easy walking distance to the Docklands campus (see map).

What you receive at the completion of the course?

Participants will receive a Statement of Participation on successful completion of the course.
