Home is where the heart is – but it can also be where your business is. Gain an insight into setting up your home business. We’ll help you discover handy websites to help you along your way, what you need in your office, and show you how to win and retain clients. Learn about insurance, OH&S, how to prepare a business plan, register for an ABN, develop a business card and the importance of delivering work on time. Gain skills in networking, marketing, invoicing and getting paid, putting money away for your salary, bills, superannuation and tax while keeping active, healthy and maintaining a work/life balance.

Learning outcomes
Participants will learn how to set up their own home office, including
- registering for an ABN
- what insurances are required
- OH&S requirements
- tax requirements
- developing a business plan
- networking and marketing your business
- the importance of delivering work on time
- how to invoice and get paid
- develop a business card
- putting money away for salary, bills, superannuation and tax
Finally, learn the art of survival, both mentally and physically in order that you may keep active and maintain a work life balance whilst running your successful home business.

Additional information
The emphasis in this course is practical and will relate to current work practices. The course is not divided into practical and theoretical components. Where possible skills will be introduced through practical activities and simulation activities.
