Admission requirements
You are eligible if:
* you have successfully completed the Australian year 12 or equivalent in your country
* you have achieved a minimum of either:
- IELTS 5.5 academic (no band score less than 5.0) or
- TOFEL paper based 530 (minimum TWE 3.5) or
- TOFEL computer based 197 (minimum TWE 3.5) or
- TOFEL internet based 71 (minimum 17 in all sections).
Intake
February and July
July intake has a summer school. Students can complete complete Advanced Diploma in Information Technology within three semesters instead of four.
Books and equipment (AUD)
Approximately $250 per year.
Students will need memory stick or portable hard drive, pens and pencils and a visual diary.
Study pathways
On completion of the Advanced Diploma, graduates can continue their studies in:
* Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Technology at La Trobe University
* Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (Network Design and Security Major) at Swinburne University of Technology
* Bachelor of Information Technology at University of Ballarat.
Career pathways
On completion of the Advanced Diploma, graduates may seek employment as:
- E-Risk manager
- ICT security specialist
- IT security administrator
- IT security analyst or engineer

Course structure
The Advanced Diploma consists of 18 units and includes the Certificate IV in Information Technology (networking) (0606438A).
In a typical week students will attend classes approximately four days per week with approximately 60 percent practical and 40 percent theory classes. Classes will be scheduled between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. The course will also include practical work placement one day a week during the second year of the course.
The teaching methods used in the Advanced Diploma include classroom-based teaching and supervised practical components in the computer laboratory.
The assessment methods include; workshops, class presentations, individual and group projects, assignments, class presentations, practical demonstration of skills, theory tests.
