Course overview
Satisfactory completion of this course enables you to move into a supervisory or management level position in one or more areas of operations management including planning, purchasing, materials, occupational health and safety, productivity and industrial engineering.
Note: From July 1st 2011, this course will require no prerequisite qualification.

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to work in senior supervisory and/or management level positions in one or more areas of operations management including planning, purchasing, materials management, work study, project management, industrial engineering or occupational health and safety.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
On successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Business (Operations Management) you should be able to perform, supervise and manage, one or more operations management functions, and perform the duties of a manufacturing, production, and service or operations manager in a medium to large organisation.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Business (Operations Management). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Credit transfers may be available into the Bachelor of Business with Operations Management as a specialisation, or Bachelor of Manufacturing.
Can I apply?
Applicants should have a minimum of two years senior experience in a materials management, operations management or related role, and have a Diploma of Business in Operations Management
If you have extensive business knowledge and skills you are eligible to undertake an RPL process. Units awarded after completion of the RPL assessments, will reduce the number of units required to be studied in this course.

All prospective students will need to attend an interview/enrolment session, where a selection criteria will be applied.

Complete this course on a part-time basis over one year.

This part-time course is offered at the Broadmeadows campus.
How will I be assessed?
A mixture of practical tutorials, project work and written tests will be used in assessing this course. Assessment is a necessary part of this program to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards. You will be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. There is the opportunity for appeal and reassessment and you will be provided with this information.
