Course overview
This course is designed for those who wish to undertake management or supervisory roles across a wide range of industry sector.
Full-time day course:
Offered at our Broadmeadows campus.
This course is offered over six months in conjunction with either an Advanced Diploma of Marketing, an Advanced Diploma of Management - (Human Resource) (six months) as part of a full time course. The full course spans two years incorporating underpinning Certificate IV in Frontline Management in conjunction with either a Certificate IV of Marketing or a Certificate IV of Human Resources (nine months) followed by a Diploma in Management in conjunction with either a Diploma of Marketing, a Diploma of Human Resources Management or a Diploma of Sustainability (nine months) and culminating with an Advanced Diploma.
Part-time day course:
This course is offered to applicants with significant industry experience through fortnightly workshop sessions on Thursdays 1pm until 7pm over a six month period.
Part-time night course:
This course is offered two nights a week over 12 months, and is suited to people with 5-10 years industry experience who are looking to further their management skills, or who are looking to advance their career in that direction.

You will gain skills in employee relations, strategic planning, business planning, knowledge and information, risk management and organisational development.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Management. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Management along with previou Diploma of Management give direct entry into the final year of the Bachelor of Applied Management Studies delivered at Broadmeadows campus in partnership with the University off Ballarat.
Credit transfers may be available into university studies.
Kangan Institute students who graduate with an Advanced Diploma of Management are able to take advantage of the 'pathways' arrangement with LaTrobe University. Students can receive advanced standing (credit) in the form of both priority entry and course credit points towards a bachelor qualification. Each university study unit carries a credit point value.
As of 03/2010, students who have graduated with the Advanced Diploma of Management can utilise advanced standing pathways in the following bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Accounting [105 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (majoring in HRM or Management) [150 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (all other majors) [120 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (HRM) [150 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (Marketing) [120 credit points]
- Bachelor of Economics [90 credit points]
- Bachelor of Finance [105 credit points]
- Bachelor of International Business [150 credit points]
Can I apply?
If you are of mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.) It is recommended that you also have completed a Diploma in Management or an approved equivalent course.

How will I be selected for this course?
All prospective students will need to attend a session which may include an interview, distribution of information relating to the course, and possible enrolment. You may also be required to sit a literacy/numeracy test.
How long is the course?
Six months.
Where and how can I study?
This course is offered at the Broadmeadows campus and is available only in the evening in classroom mode. Some flexible units are available.
How will I be assessed?
A mixture of practical tutorials, project work, demonstration, case studies and written tests will be used in assessing this course. Assessment is a necessary part of this program, to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards. You will be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. There will also be opportunity for appeal and reassessment and you will be provided with this information.
