What employment opportunities will I have?
This course is designed for people seeking employment as Occupational Health and Safety Managers (in medium to large enterprises), Occupational Health and Safety Consultants or as Occupational Health and Safety senior consultants.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
The course is designed to train occupational health and safety practitioners for industry. This course will help upgrade your current skills, particularly those already working in the Occupational Health and Safety area. The course provides a scientific and practical approach to occupational health and safety.
What qualifications will I receive?
When you successfully complete this course you will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of occupational Health and Safety. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised. Graduates may apply for full membership of the Safety Institute of Australia.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
You may be eligible to continue on to higher level studies through an undergraduate or post-graduate level degree.
Can I apply?
You may apply if you have successfully completed the Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety. If you do not have the Diploma you will need to be able to demonstrate the requisite underpinning skills for the Advanced Diploma through the Skills Recognition process.
How do I apply?
Applicants are now being taken for Semester II intake commencing in July 2012. If you wish to apply for this course you must complete the online application form or obtain an application form from the Institute.

How will I be selected for this course?
Selection will be based on:
- Successful completion of the Diploma in OHS qualification.
- Demonstrated current knowledge in OHS
- Awareness of and commitment to undertaking the course
- Basic computer and internet skills.
How long is the course?
As part of the course requirement to attain the qualification will involve evening workshops (weekly) over one year of part-time study. A significant part of the course will be delivered online.
Where and how can I study?
One night per week of face-to-face classes (on campus on a Monday night from 6pm-9pm) combined with one night per week online studies (off campus on a Wednesday night).
How will I be assessed?
You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of written assignments or tests, oral tests and practical assessments in class, or in the workplace. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. If required, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.

You will need to have access to a computer/Internet; and have access to a workplace suitable to conduct work based projects/assessments.

What will I study?
This qualification consists of eight units and involves approximately 355 nominal hours of delivery.
