What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in a wide range of vocations found in the media industry such as audiovisual professionals, multimedia studio designers, video editors and visual effects artists.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in media production management and practise including lighting, HDV camera operation, audio recording and foley editing, web media production environments, advanced visual effects design and creation, as well as research and creative design expertise.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course may lead to higher level studies such as Bachelor of Arts in Creative Media.

Can I apply?

You may apply if you have satisfactorily finished a Diploma qualification that meets 75% completion of ICP50205 Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or credit transfers from a similar course may aid in your eligibility for the Advanced Diploma course.

How do I apply?

This course is offered through VTAC; therefore full time applications for the course must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in late July.

Direct application will be considered once the VTAC places have been offered and there are vacancies in the course. If you wish to apply for this course, you must obtain an application form from the Institute. Call us on 13 TAFE (13 8233) or email enquiries@kangan.edu.au. This course has a mid-year intake.

How will I be selected for this course?

All applicants will need to contact the course co-ordinator to arrange an interview. At the interview you will discuss course aims and the commitment needed to achieve course outcomes. It is highly recommended that you bring a portfolio of creative work; printed or electronic. An English comprehension test may also be necessary to assess literacy and language competency. Evidence you have met 75% of the outcomes equal to ICP50205 Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) must be produced prior to starting the Advanced Diploma.

How long is the course?

The course spans six months in full time mode. Flexible loads can be negotiated with the course coordinator.

Where and how can I study?

You study at the Broadmeadows campus. Some units are available online.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?

Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on high end Media Productions geared towards advanced skills in Team/Group driven Production Management. A collaborative unification of appropriate technologies and software, as well as engineering a dynamic Creative Work Flow. Content is delivered in streams to allow students individual specialisation relating to skill sets and career goals.
