Course overview

This is an entry level course for people wanting to work with computers. It will enable you to undertake basic IT functions using a personal computer and to work with many online activities. This course is offered fully on-line or flexibly at our Broadmeadows Campus.

What costs and other fees should I expect?

For students in Victoria your fees, charges and concessions are available on request. There will be extra costs for textbooks and equipment. For students outside Victoria a different fee structure applies, also available on request.

What employment opportunities will I have?

After this course, you can continue on to higher levels of study or apply for entry level jobs in work places such as small to medium enterprises, warehousing, inventory control and retailing where basic computer skills have become necessary.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in Windows, word processing operations, powerpoint, spreadsheet operations, using a database and using the internet.

What qualifications will I receive?

When you successfully complete the course, you will be awarded the Certificate I in Information Technology. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You will be eligible to apply for higher level courses, such as the Certificate II in Information Technology, and continue on up to an Advanced Diploma of Information Technology.

There are no set educational requirements to apply for this course. You can apply if you are 15 years or older and wish to improve your literacy, numeracy and computer skills.

A mixture of activities, quizzes and assessment will be used. This qualification is assessed on showing that you are competent in all sections of the course.
