What employment opportunities will I have?

You will be accredited and qualified to work on specialised automotive air conditioning systems.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain the basic practical skills and theory before taking on Certificate III in Automotive Specialist (Engine Reconditioning).

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion you will receive a Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical Air Conditioning). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

Credit transfers may be available into related Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma programs.

Can I apply?

You may be eligible if you are employed in the area of automotive air conditioning systems.

How do I apply?

You may apply directly to the Institute. Please contact the Customer Service Centre on 9279 2222 to register your name for an interview.

How will I be selected for this course?

All applicants will be asked to complete a self evaluation. An interview and Recognition of Prior Learning will then be conducted.

How long is the course?

One year.

Where and how can I study?

For the rest of 2011, this course may be offered at the Coburg campus. As of 2012, all automotive courses will be run from our ACE campus in Docklands. You can choose to study on block for one week each month or for one day each week, or in your workplace.

How will I be assessed?

A mixture of practical tutorials, project work and written tests will be used in assessing this course. Assessment is a necessary part of this program, to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards.You will be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. There will also be opportunity for appeal and reassessment and you will be provided with this information.
