What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?
You will have completed part of the theory component of the relevant apprenticeship, assisting with going on to an apprenticeship in a chosen field of study. You may be ale to use some credits to put towards your apprenticeship.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
The course is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in the automotive electrical, motor mechanic, spare parts interpreting, heavy vehicle, light engine or marine mechanic industries.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the (Certificate II in Automotive Studies - pre Vocational). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at Certificate III in Automotive level. Credit transfers may be available into related certificate III courses. Further opportunities in the automotive industry may include Certificate IV or diploma courses.
Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
OR
You are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)
How do I apply?

How will I be selected for this course?
Applicants will be interviewed and have to complete a basic literacy/numeracy task.
How long is the course?
The course involves 400 hours of study, usually completed within 14 weeks.
Where and how can I study?
As of 2012, all automotive courses will be held at our ACE campus in Docklands.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advisded in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

As of 2012, all automotive courses will be run from our ACE campus in Docklands.
