This is a one year traineeship course. It has streams including: paint and panel preparation, vehicle dismantling, vehicle glazing, vehicle trimming, window tinting and vehicle preparation.

What costs and other fees should I expect?

The Contact Centre has fee information on 13 TAFE (13 8233). There may be extra costs for reference books and protective clothing and/or specialised materials.

What employment opportunities will I have?

You will study part of the theory component of an automotive industry Apprenticeship course, which may help you gain employment as an apprentice in vehicle body dismantling.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

This course is designed to provide you with general knowledge and skills for employment in the automotive spare parts industry.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate II in Automotive Vehicle Body. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You may be eligible for further study in Certificate Ill, IV or Diploma courses in automotive.

Can I apply?

You are eligible if you are employed or have been offered a new apprenticeship or traineeship in your chosen field.

How long is the course?

This is a one year course of 395 nominal hours. Enrolments are taken throughout the year.

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods and may take place in your workplace. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate.
