What employment opportunities will I have?
Electrotechnology covers electronics, electrical, communications including data and information technology, computer systems, instrumentation, refrigeration and air conditioning.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills to work to a standard required in the workplace. You will be able to identify and use a range of components, accessories, materials, tools, equipment, and technologies in the carrying-out of work. You will be well equipped with the ability to transfer and apply skills and knowledge to new situations and environments. The course provides you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes, which will enhance your employment opportunities.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Pre Vocational). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Students who complete this course generally seek an apprenticeship in the Electrotechnology field. This provides entry into various qualifications in the fields of Electrotechnology such electrician, refrigeration and servicing.Satisfactory completion of the program can lead to entry into other TAFE accredited electrical/electronic trade and post-trade courses such as Advanced Diplomas in Electrotechnology Engineering.

You can apply if you are capable of passing a standardised literacy/numeracy test, along with demonstrating the ability to meet the program requirements.

You will need to attend an interview and undertake a literacy and numeracy test.
How long is the course?
This full time course is 610 nominal hours. Conducted Monday to Friday over 20 weeks. 8.00am - 4.30pm
Where and how can I study?
The course is only available at the Broadmeadows campus.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in each Competency Unit to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the unit.
Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods and supervisor/employer reports. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate.
There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
Additional comments
This course has a mid-year entry. Informations sessions and iterviews are usually conducted in November and June.
What will I study?
To complete this qualification the 12 Core and 2 elective Units of Competence must be completed.
