When you successfully complete this course you can continue on to higher levels of study or apply for work in a range of jobs within the engineering Industry .Some of the areas include production machining manufacture and production technology.

You will gain skills in following work instructions and procedures, operating in a team environment and being responsible for assuring the quality of your work.
What qualifications will I receive?
You will be awarded the Certificate II in Engineering - Production Technology. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
You will become eligible to apply for higher level courses, such as Certificate III.
Can I apply?
To start a traineeship, you need to find a traineeship job (part-time or full-time) and sign a training contract with your employer. (Year 10 or year 11 is usually an advantage for school leavers). Trainees usually work in production environments, but can also be employed in laboratory and maintenance areas. This traineeship is at a higher technological level than a production traineeship.

How will I be selected for this course?
You will be interviewed and may have to complete a basic literacy and numeracy test. Applicants must be currently employed as an trainee in the field of Engineering - production technology.
How long is the course?
Generally 24 months, combining on-the-job and off-the-job training.
Where and how can I study?
The course is available at the Broadmeadows campus. Students generally attend one day per week until the traineeship is completed.
What costs and other fees should I expect?

How will I be assessed?
You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of written assignments or tests, oral tests and practical assessments in class, or during a work placement. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. If needed, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.
What will I study?
The modules studied will depend on the area of specialisation and will include core modules and electives.
