What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?
On completion of a Certificate II program, students will have completed part of the work towards an apprenticeship in Outdoor Power Equipment.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
This course is designed to provide students with a general knowledge of light outdoor engines including movers, diggers, generators and trimmers.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of this course you will receive a Certificate II in Outdoor Power Equipment. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Credit transfers may be available into related Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma programs.
Can I apply?
You can apply if you are employed or have been offered an apprenticeship in your chosen field.
How do I apply?
New Apprentices/Trainees will first need to be employed and signed up to a “Contract of training” by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC).These AAC’s are located in Metropolitan and regional centres. For locations visit http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au/
If this has already been done, and Kangan Batman Institute has been listed as the preferred provider on the contract of training the Institute will contact you once your contract has been registered with Skills Victoria.

How will I be selected for this course?
Applicants must be currently employed as a trainee in this field of specialisation.
How long is the course?
The nominal duration of the training is 390 hours over one year.
Where and how can I study?
For the rest of 2011, this course may be offered at the Coburg campus. As of 2012, all automotive courses will be run from our ACE campus in Docklands. You can choose to study on block (one week every six months approximately), day release or in your workplace.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods and may take place in your workplace. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for re-assessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.
Additional comments
You may participate in this course while searching for suitable employment but you will need to complete extra practical work at further cost if you do not secure a workplace.
