What costs and other fees should I expect?
Costs for the course are approximately 2700 full-fee (or $188-247) concession) Eligible students not on concession appproximately $892. Books will also be required for study and these cost an additional $102 prices are subject to change. What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in the security industry in special events, site security, corporate security, pubs and clubs etc. It is an entry point into other areas of the industry such as body guarding etc.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in managing conflict, law, self confidence, de-escalation techniques and self defence. Reporting procedures responding to emergency situations. As well as prevention techniques and working requirements of being a Crowd Controller Unarmed Guard.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate ll (Unarmed/Guard Crowd Control). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at Certificate lll level. Credit transfers may be available into additional courses.

Next enrolment is on the 2 February 2012.
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. There are licensing requirements to work as a Security Officer/Crowd Control.
You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to enrol on the date specified (by 10am) or at an agreed time.
How long is the course?
The course spans four weeks, with classes from 8:30am to 4:30pm five days a week. Courses are 17 days for Crowd Control Unarmed Guard. Screening is only an additional three days.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus - Building J, Room J253 (Enrolments are also in this room). Learning is a combination of practical exercise and theory, including self defence.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.
