Course overview
This course is designed for those wishing to pursue a career in screening locations. It is a growing segment of the industry and is expanding into a range of security operations. It is a speciality of the security and public safety department using state-of-the-art equipment.

What costs and other fees should I expect?
Costs for the course are approximately $600 full fee.
In 2012 if you qualify under Skills Reform funding will be available.
This makes the cost of the course considerably cheaper.

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in courts, airports, maritime etc where a high level of screening security is required.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in interpreting x-ray images, using sophisticated equipment working at a screening point managing challenging situations fulfilling an important role.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the a statement of attainment II in Security Operations (Screening Baggage and Items). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course may lead to higher-level studies in security operations. Credit transfers may be available.
Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. A security qualification is helpful.

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy questionnaire.
How long is the course?
The course spans three days, with classes from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Monday November 29 - Wednesday December 1 2011 (depending on enrolments).
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus room J207.
It involves using creening equipment and state of the art computer software which are simple to operate.
Next course in 2012 is 29/Feb/2012-02/March/2012 you can enrol on the first day (please confirm with teaching staff this is a very popular program):

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
