What qualifications will I receive?
As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Certificate III in Automotive (Aftermarket Retail Operations).
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Credit transfers may be available into related Certificate III courses. Further opportunities in the automotive industry may include Certificate IV or Diploma courses.
Can I apply?
New Apprentices/Trainees will first need to be employed and signed up to a “Contract of training” by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC).These AAC’s are located in Metropolitan and regional centres.

How do I apply?
If you wish to apply for this course, you must obtain an application form from the Institute. Please refer to the applications brochure which will provide details on timing of applications and enrolments. This course has a mid-year intake and takes enrolments all year round. How will I be selected for this course?
You are eligible to apply for this course if you are 15 years or older and are employed in the field or have been offered an apprenticeship.
How long is the course?
The program is run over three years, with 320 hours of classes a year.
Where and how can I study?
For the rest of 2011, this course may be offered at the Coburg campus. As of 2012, all automotive courses will be run from our ACE campus in Docklands.. You can do your training on block a week or more at a time, one day a week or at your workplace.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.
What will I study?
The subjects/competencies you will study will be discussed upon enrolment with your teacher/coordinator.
