What employment opportunities will I have?
This course will give you skills to work under supervision in basic personal computer support, basic network and system administration or in first level help desk roles.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in advanced word processing, spreadsheet and databases operations, as well as in using the internet. You will also gain skills in the basic use of a range of technologies to provide first level diagnostic support to people using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Computer hardware related subjects are also included.
What qualifications will I receive?
When you successfully complete this course you will be awarded the Certificate III in Information Technology. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
You may continue on to higher level studies, such as the Certificate IV in Information Technology, up to an Advanced Diploma of Information Technology.
Can I apply?
To apply for this course you must have completed the Certificate II in Information Technology course or its equivalent. It is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.

You will be required to attend an interview and be given an English language test.
How long is the course?
Generally six months of full-time study.

This course is offered at the Broadmeadows campus. It is also offered at the Flexible Learning Centre, Essendon Campus.
What costs and other fees should I expect?
Contact us on 13 TAFE (13 8233) or 9279 2222 for a fee schedule. Books and memory stick (at least 1 GB capacity) for this course cost about $500.
How will I be assessed?
You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of assignments, theory tests, practical tests and observation. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. If needed, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.
