Course overview
This course is designed for those students that wish to work as a licensed Investigator and/or surveillance operative.
The next course will begin July 2012 dependent on student numbers.
There are many employment opportunities for people with this qualification.

What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in some of the following areas; general investigations, transporting of valuables sureveillance, family law investigations, surveilllance of family members, locating missing persons, employee investigations checks, online dating background checks, insurance investigations, GPS tracking of vehicles, process serving, investigating cases of vadalisim, survelliance, loss prevention, under cover operations.
This course may assist in employment in policing, customs, first line management.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in setting up and operating a surveillance vehicle, choose methods of Investigations, Interviewing skills, photography and viideography skills, comprehending how surveillance equipment works, a good interpretation of the law, use of force and powers of arrest.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate III in Investigative Services. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies such as Certificate IV in Security and Risk Managment and Security Diploma.
Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
How do I apply?
To apply for this course you must fill in a direct application form which can be obtained from the institute by calling the Contact Centre on 13 TAFE (13 8233) or email enquiries@kangan.edu.au. This course may also have a mid-year intake.
How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to enrol on the specified date or at an agreed time and pass a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test. All applicants will need to complete the course satifactorily to achieve a certificate.
How long is the course?
The course spans for 23 days, full-time. NEXT COURSE 22nd March 2012.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus 8.30am-4.30pm.
The next Certificate III in Investigative Services commences on the Monday 22nd March 2012 and concludes on the 8 May 2012 (total: 23 Days) Monday - Friday excluding Easter break (two weeks).
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. Most students find this interesting. In the rare event you need to re-sit their is the opportunity opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

This course has enrolment dates on the first mornings of the course (please contact us before hand so we can reserve you a place).
What will I study?
This course has 15 modules, we shall train you in Certifcate III in Investigative Services including law, operational procedures, developing operational plans for interviewing, report writing and conducting field operations. We will make it an interesting process with very positive feedback from previous students.
