What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?

On successful completion of the course graduates may seek employment with international and domestic airlines in aircraft production and refurbishment, and corporate and general aviation.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in analysis, design, planning, execution and evaluation across a range of technical and management functions including development of new criteria or applications or knowledge or procedures. You will be able to demonstrate a command of wide-ranging, highly specialised technical, creative or conceptual skills.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You may be able to continue on to higher level studies, such as a diploma. On successful completion of this course you may consider further studies in the Diploma of Aeroskills (mechanical).

Can I apply?

Students must be employed as an apprentice/tradesperson in the designated trade. You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months).

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply for this course as an apprentice, your employer will register your intention to enrol through a registered AAC (Australian Apprenticeships Centre

How will I be selected for this course?

You must be currently employed as an apprentice.

How long is the course?

This is a four year course with set on-the-job and off-the-job competencies to be completed.

Where and how can I study?

This course is held at Aviation Industry Training Centre, Broadmeadows Campus.

How will I be assessed?

You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of written assignments or tests, oral tests and practical assessments in class, or during a work placement. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. If needed, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.

Applicants MUST be currently employed as an apprentice.

What will I study?

There are six common compulsory Core units and 10 technical stream units. Additional units may be required to meet enterprise and/or licensing needs.
