If you successfully complete this course, you will increase your skills and knowledge within the automotive industry for servicing of modern vehicles.

You will gain an in depth knowledge of vehicle systems, and increased employment opportunities because of your specialisation in diagnostics.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate lV in Automotive Technology. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course is designed for the service personnel wishing to upgrade their knowledge of technical automotive repair.

Can I apply?

The pre-requisite for this course is the completion Certificate III from a similar discipline or the ability to demonstrate skills and knowledge against the units of competence.

How do I apply?

New Apprentices/Trainees will first need to be employed and signed up to a “Contract of training” by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC).These AAC’s are located in Metropolitan and regional centres.

For locations visit http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au/ If this has already been done, and Kangan Institute has been listed as the preferred provider on the contract of training, the Institute will contact you once your contract has been registered with Skills Victoria.

How will I be selected for this course?

Applicants wishing to enrol must have completed Certificate III in Automotive.

How long is the course?

This course is part-time and can be conducted on weekends and evenings. Most students enrol in units only.

Where and how can I study?

For the rest of 2011, this course may be offered at the Coburg or Richmond campuses. As of 2012, all automotive courses will be run from our ACE campus in Docklands.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

What will I study?

The subjects/competencies you will study will be discussed upon enrolment with your teacher/coordinator.
