This course is designed for:
* Any complimentary or alternative medicine practitioner who wishes to add the knowledge and skills of an ayurvedic lifestyle consultant to their scope of practice.
* Any health care professional who wishes to add the knowledge and skills of an ayurvedic lifestyle consultant to their ccope of practice.
* Any massage therapist, remedial therapist or myotherapist who wish to add the knowledge and skills of an ayurvedic lifestyle consultant to their scope of practice.
* Any person wishing to enter into the field of complimentary and alternative medicine via the ayurvedic pathway.
* Anyone who would like to learn ayurveda for their personal benefit.
This qualification covers the skills needed to be an ayurvedic lifestyle consultant. An ayurvedic lifestyle consultant provides advice and assistance on living according to ayurvedic principles. This qualification does not cover ayurvedic remedial or therapeutic care.

The current materials fees for 2012 is $250. This includes texts and any other associated printing. There may be extra costs for reference books, protective clothing or specialised materials.
What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in any complimentary and alternative medicine clinic, ayurvedic medicine clinic, massage clinic, spa or self employment.
Occupational titles may include:
* Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant
* Ayurvedic assistant
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in providing Ayurvedic advice on nutrition, providing Ayurvedic relaxation massage treatment, providing Ayurvedic lifestyle consultation, working within an Ayurvedic framework for lifestyle consultants.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the HLT41207 Certificate IV in Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at Advanced Diploma level. Credit transfers may be available into HLT40307 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice.
Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
How do I apply?
Applications have closed for the current year 2012. We will be accepting applications for the 2013 course from October 2012. Please apply at this time via the VTAC system or you may apply directly through the 'Apply Here' button on this page.

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to demonstrate a desire or commitment to embracing a healthy lifestyle.
Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Student Profile Application Form.
How long is the course?
The course spans two class days per week for 32 weeks over 10 months (February to November).
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Richmond campus. Currently, specialisation classes are delivered on Mondays and common subjects are delivered on Wednesdays. PLEASE NOTE: These days are subject to change.
Do you have to attend both days?
Yes, if you are new to the industry and have no prior background in the health industry.
No, if you have already completed the common subjects via another course, you do not have to attend on Wednesdays. You may apply for credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning/Recognition of Current Competency.
Do I have to attend Industry Practical Placement?
Yes, you will need to spend time working with a mentor or prospective employer within industry during your studies.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

Persons who have already completed the common subjects will be entitled to credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competency.
