What employment opportunities will I have?

This course is designed to provide students with advanced office and computing skills including computerised accounting. Upon completion you may be able to gain a high level or supervisory position such as administrative officer, personal assistant, accounts payable or receivable officer or executive receptionist.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain and develop advanced office skills including; producing complex business documents, databases and spreadsheets, analysing and presenting research information, organising meetings and travel and teamwork.

As an elective, you will have the opportunity to choose computerised accounting or provide personal leadership.

What qualifications will I receive?

When you successfully complete this course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Business Administration.

This course is nationally recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You may continue on to full time study in the Diploma of Business Administration.

You may continue on to part time study in the Diploma of Business.

Can I apply?

You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed Certificate III in Business, or have equivalent industry skills and experience.

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply for this course, you must obtain an application form from the Institute. Call us on 13 TAFE (13 8233) or email enquiries@kangan.edu.au. This course also has a mid-year intake.

If you are a year 12 student or have recently completed VCE, you can apply through VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre). Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in July.

How will I be selected for this course?

Year 12 students will be selected using their ENTER scores. All other students will be selected using a comprehension test and interview.

How long is the course?

Six months of full-time study.

Where and how can I study?

Full-time day classes are held at the Broadmeadows Campus.

How will I be assessed?

You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required for the course. You will be assessed by written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance the type and dates of assessment . If needed, you will have the opportunity for reassessment.

What must you bring to enrolment?

- Letter confirming your offer of a place in the course
- Proof of Australian citizenship/residency (birth certificate, passport, medicare card or citizenship documents)
- Proof of age if under the age of 20 as at 1st of January, 2011 (birth certificate, driver licence, passport)

What will I study?

You must satisfactorily complete ten (10) units of competency. (See the list of modules).
