This course is designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. The Certificate IV in Business is designed to give you the office and computer skills required to work in administration. You can improve your chances of employability by continuing to the Diploma in Business.

What employment opportunities will I have?

Employment opportunities may involve working as an administration officer or secretary within a business or organisation.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain an intermediate level of office and computer technology skills. You will learn business procedures needed in a modern office, as well as develop an understanding of business functions, quality teams, customer service, word processing, computer applications skills and document presentation.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Business. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You may continue on to higher level studies, such as the Diploma in Business.

Can I apply?

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are welcome to apply. We encourage you to first complete the Certificate III in Business before attempting the Certificate IV in Business course.

How do I apply?

You may apply directly to the Institute. Contact the Indigenous Education Centre at the Broadmeadows campus on (03) 9279 2357.

How will I be selected for this course?

You will need to contact the Indigenous Education Centre and attend an information session.

How long is the course?

This is a 12 month course. Classes run every Monday and Thursday from 9-11am.

Where and how can I study?

You will study at the Indigenous Education Centre, Building W, at the Broadmeadows campus. Flexible delivery is offered but this will be a pre-arranged agreement between your and your teacher.

How will I be assessed?

You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of written assignments or tests, oral tests and practical assessments in class, or during a work placement. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. If needed, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.

The course is run at the Indigenous Education Centre where participants are welcomed in a comfortable and positive learning environment in which the indigenous culture is respected and celebrated.

This course has a mid-year entry.

What will I study?

You will study a range of subjects that will teach you about business relationships, electronic presentations, workplace safety, organising schedules, computer programs etc.
