Course overview

The course is for qualified electricians to gain extra skills and knowledge to use in supervisory and contractual positions. There are five units available, including programmable controllers and electrical contracting.

What employment opportunities will I have?

You will be qualified to work in positions requiring advanced electrical and electronic skills in maintenance, contracting, manufacturing, drafting, testing, servicing and sales.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in complex machinery, and you will be equipped to established your own electrical contracting business.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of five units in the course, you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Electrical. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

Can I apply?

You can apply if you have completed a Certificate III in Electrotechnolgy or equivalent.

This is a part-time evening course of up to 240 hours

The course is available at the Broadmeadows campus part time at night only

How will I be assessed?

A mixture of practical tutorials, project work and written tests will be used in assessing this course. Assessment is a necessary part of this program, to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards.You will be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. There will also be opportunity for appeal and reassessment and you will be provided with this information.
